Property Type and Location
“The Old School House”, a beautiful heritage building in Defynnog, Sennybridge was left to a group of trustees with limited financial means.
The existing ancient log burner and some backup storage heaters simply weren’t enough to heat the Old School House in winter, especially with heat loss from customers constantly letting in cold air when opening or closing doors.

Business tenants had to abandon the building in winter. The trustees were committed to preserving the building as an asset for the village but with irregular rental payments they could never save up enough money to invest in restoration or a new heating system.

Birds’ Hill Solution
The Solution – Klover Diva + – a 25KW Wood Pellet Boiler – Powerful, renewable, automated and efficient.
Having seen the biomass boiler system at Wright’s Food Emporium the trustees called Nick in to find a solution for them. The Klover Diva + fits neatly into the space of the old log burner. The design blends perfectly into the interior of the attached bakery and all visitors can enjoy the comforting view of a fire burning through the glass window.
The Klover is fully programmable and features sophisticated controls that makes it easy to run and allows the tenants to attend to their business without interruption.
New Renewable Heating System Benefits
The system is sophisticated and easy to run.
By switching to renewable energy loans became available that otherwise would not have been accessible to the trustees. Repayments come back over a period of time via the governmental Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) Scheme.
The colour matches the style of the property and the burner provides a comforting atmosphere with the view of a fire burning through the glass window.
The centre can open all year round, providing a continuous asset for the village.
Installation
The installation was simple as the Klover Diva + fitted neatly into the space of the old log burner. All that needed doing was to install the radiators and line the chimney.
Running the System
Running the system is easy and clean. Bags of wood pellets can be delivered to the business and emptied into the Klover Diva +. It’s cleaner than coal and with the sophisticated, programmable controls it won’t keep you from going after your business.
Funding
An ecologically minded fund for community ventures let the trustees borrow money at a favourable rate.
By switching to renewable heating ‘green’ funds and loans made money available that otherwise would not have been accessible to the trustees. The repayments for the loan come back over a period of time via the governmental Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) Scheme.
