Birds Hill recently completed a high-performance solar and battery storage installation for a domestic customer located near Llandeilo. The system was designed to maximise on-site energy generation, reduce reliance on the grid, and provide a future-proofed pathway for expanded energy storage.
System Specification
Solar PV Array (Roof Installation)
The roof-mounted system comprises:
- 10 × JA Solar 465W N-Type BiFacial panels
- Renusol VarioSole+ roof mounting system
- Installed on a south-east facing concrete tile roof
- No shading present, ensuring optimal performance
This configuration has been carefully designed to maximise generation throughout the day, particularly during morning and midday sunlight hours.
Estimated annual generation: ~3,771 kWh
Inverter & Battery Storage
To manage and optimise energy usage, the following system was installed:
- 3.68kW Fox ESS H1 G2 single-phase hybrid inverter
- Fox ESS EP6 5.76kWh battery storage system
The hybrid inverter allows seamless integration between solar generation, battery storage, and grid usage, ensuring the property maximises self-consumption of solar energy.
Future Expansion Capability
One of the key benefits of this installation is its scalability.
The system has been designed to allow the customer to expand their battery storage capacity up to 23.04kWh. This can be achieved by adding three additional Fox ESS EP6 batteries, configured alongside a Fox junction box for seamless expansion.
This ensures the system can grow alongside the customer’s future energy needs.
