Type of Renewable Heating System Installed: Klover Smart 80 wood pellet boiler, accompanied by a 250-litre domestic hot water cylinder.
Date of Installation: 14th April 2024
Location: Almelely, Herefordshire.
In April 2024, Birds Hill completed a significant renewable heating project in Almelely, Hereford, Herefordshire. The installation involved replacing an outdated oil boiler with a Klover Smart 80 wood pellet boiler, accompanied by a 250-litre domestic hot water cylinder. This system now efficiently caters to the property’s 27,000kWh annual heating needs, seamlessly integrating with the existing radiator circuit.
The UK government’s investment of £5,000 per household for biomass boilers highlights the growing trend towards renewable heating. This installation not only aligns with national carbon-neutral targets for 2050 but also positions the homeowners to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. Previously emitting 8 tonnes of carbon annually, the home now emits only 2 tonnes. With potential solar thermal additions, further reductions are anticipated.
The homeowners, amidst renovating and expanding their property, were keen to transition away from their old Rayburn oil boiler. With the support of the boiler upgrade scheme grant, they found the shift to renewable heating not only sustainable but also financially viable.
The installation process was smooth, thanks to the customer’s proactive approach. They sold their old Rayburn to an engineer-collector, who assisted with its removal. A concrete plinth was built for the new boiler, while a downstairs cupboard was repurposed to house the hot water cylinder. The ongoing renovation allowed for neat pipe runs hidden behind kitchen cabinets, resulting in a polished finish that seamlessly blends with the kitchen units.
Our expertise shone through this project. Having installed over 310 biomass boilers, we displayed their ability to meet specific customer requirements while ensuring quality and efficiency. This project further emphasises the Birds’ Hill commitment to renewable energy and our adaptability to evolving customer needs.
Customer feedback echoed their satisfaction, describing the experience as smooth and the quality of work as exceptional. The installation has become a talking point in the village, with the homeowners eager to recommend Birds’ Hill to others.
In conclusion, this project exemplifies Birds Hill’s ability to deliver tailored renewable heating solutions that meet both environmental and customer needs. By choosing Birds Hill, customers not only invest in expert installation but also contribute to a sustainable future.
