Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) heat your house from the air outside. It may sound counter intuitive, but just as a fridge extracts heat from the inside using in reverse refridgeration process. ASHP provide effective heating, working to temperatures as low as -15°C (outside).
Depending on system configuration an ASHP can offer a full central heating solution and provide domestic hot water.
This renewable heating technology works well with underfloor heating.
How does it work?
Air source heat pumps (also known as ASHPs) use a natural source of heat – air – to produce energy.
They absorb warmth from the outside air and convert it into heat.
Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP)
The Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) is a low cost, low energy consuming and high warmth renewable heating system. Heat Pumps can be the most efficient way of providing all of your domestic or industrial building’s heating needs including hot water, while simultaneously saving you money and significantly decreasing carbon emissions.
How does it work?
Ground Source Heat Pumps (also known as GSHPs) use a natural source of heat from the ground to produce energy.
Using a limited amount of electricity, residual heat is converted into higher temperatures using a vapour compression cycle. This is then transferred to heating and hot water systems to produce a consistent and reliable warmth throughout your house.
REASONS TO
CHANGE THE WAY YOU HEAT YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS
Heat pumps do use electricity but by using the heat that they extract from the ground, air, or water (that is constantly being renewed naturally). Heat Pumps achieve relatively high COP’s (Coefficient of Performance) and they can be very cost effective.

Heat Pump Installers Near Me FAQs
How much does a new ASHP installation cost?
As experienced heat pump installers, we have a wealth of experience and have undertaken over 150 new heat pump installations throughout Wales and neighbouring counties. There are a wide range of factors that can affect the cost including capacity, setting, configuration and other factors. However, for installations, this can typically start from around £10,000. A government grant through the BUS Scheme would offer a £7,500 grant towards the cost.
How do I choose a heat pump installer?
It is well worth considering if they are a reputable local installer. You should choose a Microgeneration Certification Scheme ( MCS ) installer if you plan to apply for government funding, such as through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
However, you should also consider this even if you aren’t seeking funding since this certification proves that they are technically competent to install these products to the correct standards. In addition, MCS certified installers have to be registered with a consumer protection scheme such as RECC or HIES , so you’re protected should anything go wrong.
You can determine whether they hold MCS certification at MCS website. As well as this you should consider their reviews on their GoogleBusinessProfile. Proximity is something you should also consider and as local installers to Wales and the Welsh Marches we are well situated to not only install but also service and maintain your heat pump.
